Russell Crowe is Suffering Lower Extremity Injuries as a Result of Action-Flicks

Just days before Russell Crowe turns 50, he has finally come out and revealed the staggering extent of his injuries while working on action-flicks.

In an interview on an Australian radio station, Nova FM, he’s quoted as saying, “At 49, I find it a bit difficult to run these days. I have grade four tears in both Achilles, I have shin splints, no cartilage in the toes in my right foot, I’ve got bone marrow edemas in under my knees, and I have one degenerating hip…”

Despite the troubles he’s been having, Crowe was able to laugh when asked about his injuries. He jokes that he’s been, “...picking up injuries since 184 A.D.,” a definite nod to his role as Maximus in the 2000 movie Gladiator.

Working on your feet can create long-term effects if you don’t take care of them the right way. The best way to avoid chronic ailments is to see podiatrist Dr. Michael H. Wynn, DPM of Foot Care Associates of Texas. Dr. Wynn will assess your risk of being injured on the job and offer advice about how to keep your feet safe.

Working on Your Feet

Standing on your feet for long periods of time can cause stress and pain in your feet. Your whole body may experience change in terms of posture, back pain, bunions, callouses and or plantar warts. There are ways to avoid these conditions with proper foot care, smart choices and correct posture.

Positive Changes

Negative heeled shoe – choosing this shoe places the heel slightly lower than the ball of the foot. These are great for overall foot health. Find shoes that fit you correctly.

Go barefoot – our feet were not designed to be enclosed for hours, or all day. Allow yourself to expose your feet.

Eliminate Pain

Foot Exercises – performing simple exercises, incorporating yoga and stretches is beneficial. This will allow increased blood flow to the area and muscles of the foot.

Achilles tendon – stretching the foot out flat on the floor, will relax the calf muscles and tendon. These exercises can be performed almost anywhere. Make sure you add these exercises to your daily regimen.

Keep your feet healthy and your body will thank you for it.
